A Snapshot of Your Day
You support the daily work of PD&T engineers in modernizing assembly and final-finishing processes in transformer production. You observe how work is performed on the shop floor, collect and analyze data, identify losses and bottlenecks, and help develop and test practical improvements. Your work may include workplace and tooling development, process trials, measurements, documentation, or supporting the introduction of a more efficient manufacturing method. With engineering guidance, you can gradually take ownership of a smaller process-development topic.
How You’ll Make an Impact
● Daily support for manufacturing engineering activities in assembly and final finishing
● Support and maintain manufacturing engineering processes
● Analyze shopfloor processes and identify losses, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
● Support the development of workplaces, tooling, fixtures, material flow and assembly methods
● Collect and analyze cycle-time, process and quality-related data
● Perform measurements and tests for verification and validation
● Update procedures, work instructions, visual standards and technical documentation
What You Bring
● Ongoing studies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, electrical engineering
or a related field
● Minimum 4 days, 32 hours / week availability
● Strong practical, process-oriented mindset and interest in Lean Manufacturing
● Willingness to spend significant time on the shop floor and develop workable solutions
● Ability to cooperate with Engineering, Production, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain and Purchasing
● Fluent English, both verbal and written
● Good computer and communication skills; Lean, CAD, PLC or automation knowledge is an advantage
About the Team
The team is a dynamic group of 18 engineers forming the PD&T (Production Development & Technology) department. We develop, introduce, verify, validate and continuously improve the manufacturing technologies required for transformer production. Our scope includes manufacturing processes, machines, tools, fixtures and auxiliary equipment. We work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, EHS and other functions. Our approach is practical and collaborative: we understand the real shopfloor problem, use data and engineering judgement, test solutions, and turn the learning into robust and sustainable standards.
Grid Technology
Our Grid Technology division enables a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid. The power grid is the backbone of the energy transition. Siemens Energy offers a leading portfolio and solutions in HVDC transmission, grid stabilization and storage, high voltage switchgears and transformers, and digital grid technology.
